USAID/Jamaica: From the American People

Program

Democracy & Goverance

Objective: Increased accountability, citizen security and participation

Overview

USAID’s democracy and governance activities provide assistance to civil society organizations, local non-governmental organizations and community-based organizations to increase their participation in and strengthen their advocacy role on governance related issues, including issues such as crime and violence. Assistance supports community policing activities through technical assistance and grants to local organizations in inner-city communities to reduce crime and violence and strengthen community trust.
